This was actually a re-read for me. The first time I read it, I was in the ninth grade and 14 years old. I was supposed to re-read the whole thing for a class last semester, but have only just now finished. At the age of 14, I found this book to be slow with plot and characters taht were too difficult for me to understand. I enjoyed it much more on any levels.First off, I found the plot and characters much easier to follow, which could possibly have to do with the fact that I watched two film adaptations of this movie last semester. I also thought that it read a lot more quickly--even though I knew what happened, I found myself very eager to hear the story told from Dickens' voice.I also think that Dickens does description well. I thought the passage where Pip tells Estella that he loves her was particularly well done. I thought he also did a good job of cnveying how his characters transformed throughout the novel. If you're interested in classics or just books where characters learn important life lessons, I would definitely recommend this to you.
